Some claim he died in Franklin Co, GA and is buried in Franklin Co, GA but I have been unable to find any proof that George lived and considering no George Kelley appeared on any militia for Mecklenburg during our revolution or in the war of 1812, I don't think he was a real person. Several of the brothers were drafted more than once so if George was a real person how did he avoid the draft? J Fred O'Kelly tells his readers that George was born about 1752 but Alethea Jane Macon doesn't provide a birth year but both authors lists him as the second born son, a position often reserved for the maternal grandfather's name and while he could have been named after Elizabeth Dean's father the name does not appear as George Dean O'Kelley as one would expect. The name George does appear in our Irish Kelley family, Col Charles O'Kelley's book Macariae Excidium witten in 1692 about the Willamette War in Ireland we find in the notes on top of page 163 among a listing of officers who served in King James II Irish Army in that war was a Ensign George Kelley a double "e" Kelley. This George Kelley would have lived a full three generations before George O'Kelley's birth so while the name might appear in the Kelley family, it does not appear in any records that one would expect to find him in during the time some claimed he lived. I suspect that Rev George Washington O'Kelley the second born son of Charles has been wrongly confused into George, the brother of Charles and this seems supported by Harold O'Kelley's book where he mentioned how long lived George appeared to have been. Some replicate the below which is unproven and has no documents to back up the claim. George O'Kelley and Milly were married. Milly was born in 1764 in NC. She died in 1850.
